I apologize for the lack of a post last week. I believe i had a really good reason not to.
I was attempting not to jinx a good thing. Even now i knock on wood to ensure the flow keeps going smoothly. The cause for concern? We have found an alternate cello I player Although we went past the ranks of collegiate students and found him in high school, it’s not necessarily a bad thing… especially when his teacher, Hamilton Cheifetz, recommended him.
We’re doing really well in music rehearsals. We’ve only had a couple with singers, but the orchestra is good to go. I’m really not as nervous as i thought i would be even though there are 30 some days until the show opens, and we really only have 6 more music rehearsals including tech week.
Another really cool thing happened, a local arts & rec paper Willamette Week had a little blurb about the show.
In other news, I recently watched Taken with Liam Neeson and thought it was totally awesome. It seemed like a mix of Jason Bourne and Jack Bauer. Co-written by Luc Besson who wrote the 5th Element (one of my favorite movies) it didn’t disappoint.
I know that i already wrote about seeing Star Trek, but i’d just like to give it another mention. It was awesome!
School is nearly over. a few days of class left, a couple concerts to attend and participate in, one final then done. Planning for my senior recital has begun. This time i’m going to compose a 20+ minute piece for marimba and clarinet with multi movements. Cool. Now to come up with the other 40 minutes… and write those 20 as well. Damn.
New scores in the playlist:
Coraline, Terminator Salvation, X-Men Origins, Children of Dune, Rambo, Angels and Demons, Frost/Nixon, The Hunt for Red October. In the pipeline: Harry Potter VI.
Heavy listening with score in hand: Shostakovich’s 5th Symphony.
Current music idea running through my brain: Fanfare with fugal chorale for a new opera.
