This last weekend I went to Las Vegas with my dad and a bunch of our friends. I had never before been to Vegas, but on the airport runway. I must say that I had a lot of fun. It’s a crazy town, and it makes me glad that I live in Portland. This is the first time that I’ve really ever gambled, and I love it. Needless to say, I lost my ass, but I had a lot of fun doing it. I mostly played craps and blackjack. Good times, good times.
The buffets were everywhere, and amazing. Tons of shows, but I didn’t see any. One of our friends is a special construction worker who hangs fire doors, so he took us on the tour of the miracle mile and showed us a lot of the work he did.
Overall, the casinos on the strip were crazy flashy, but not nearly on par with the “old-school” feel of the clubs in the old downtown on Fremont street. One of the most unexpected delightful moments was when the show above Fremont street started and everyone on the street stopped to look up. It was a scene from Shyamalan’s “the Happening.”
Lots of fun, and I can’t wait to do it next year!
